We’re excited to kick off our spotlight series with Denver Rock/Metal veterans Wake Me. They just dropped their new single Blood Moon, as well as an accompanying music video which was filmed here at The Band Cave Studios. The guitar work is reminiscent of early 2000’s metal, but the polished vocal hooks and punchy, aggressive rhythm section will have you singing along and head-banging in no time. Since their debut in 2017, it seems that Wake Me has been working to achieve a careful balance in their music: One that balances their harder (arguably punkier and proggier) roots with a cleaner, tighter, more accessible sound.
Blood Moon’s video (Directed by J.T. Ibanez) is filled with kinetic action shots of the band, interspersed with evocative, montage-esque clips of lead singer Justin Ray and the ever-striking imagery of human shapes pressing through against a tightened sheet of cloth. In this case, the cloth is blood red, which can be seen pulled against Ray’s throat, playing off the lyrics and their themes of fatal attraction.
